Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the SME for the development of new manufacturing technology and existing manufacturing technology in the areas of industrial controls and machine vision inspection.
  • Team member of cross-functional equipment development team (Manufacturing, Technology Transfer, Quality/Regulatory, Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance) to specify, develop, and implement new manufacturing technology
  • Ability to lead controls and vision upgrades to existing equipment
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work for prototyping and assessing feasibility of new vision inspection applications.
  • Works with vendors/suppliers to develop new technology and support/upgrade of existing technologies in the areas of industrial machine controls and machine vision.
  • Effectively implement problem solving skills and techniques to identify potential issues, assess their impact, and develop and implement mitigation and resolution plans and activities.
  • Train Manufacturing and Technology Transfer Engineering personnel on new manufacturing technologies and current technology in the area of expertise.
  • Participate cross functional teams for identified projects and products, which may include personnel from Engineering, Technology Transfer, Manufacturing, Product Development, QA, Marketing, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Generate technical documents/reports (engineering studies, URS, FAT, etc) and compliance documents (ECO).
  • Ensure that all appropriate documentation and specifications are generated in compliance with Integra’s procedures and statutory requirements (FDA and ISO).
  • Develop and maintain an effective cross-functional working relationship with Technology Transfer Engineering, Manufacturing, Sustaining Engineering, Regulatory, and Quality Assurance.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education

  • BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in machine vision and industrial control systems.   5+ years in medical device or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience with Quality System Regulation (QSR), GMP, Design Control, and Process Validation guidelines applied to the Medical Device industry.
  • Past experience with Beckoff, PC based industrial controller or PLC based control systems.
  • Experience specifying, developing, and implementing machine vision inspection systems required. Specific experience with Matrox imaging applications highly desired.
  • Hands on programming experience with PC based and PLC industrial controllers and machine vision inspection systems.
  • Experience specifying, testing, and evaluating machine vision inspection systems.
